Before entering Parliament Andy worked in major construction, mainly on high rise buildings.
Andy believes that laws governing the lives of animals are inadequate and discriminatory. He says if our laws recognise the value of animal lives we will begin to view each other in the same light and show more compassion to other human beings. This is what prompted him to run for Parliament.
The priority Andy has for his community is to encourage equality and respect for all humans and animals. He is wedded to his strong union ethos that it is our duty to improve lives for all and is deeply committed to LGBTIQ rights and the rights of refugees and asylum seekers.
Andy's vision for Victoria’s future is as a kinder society where we afford animals the same rights as we give ourselves.
The areas of public policy that Andy is most passionate about are animal protection, LGBTIQ rights, workers’ rights, job security, and women’s rights. Andy is also a strong advocate for Treaty and the land rights of our First Nations people, as well as a return to traditional place names.
