Committees formed to hold inquiries

Watch this insight into the committee inquiry process.

Members of parliament have been appointed to a range of committees.

Committees conduct inquiries into various matters of public interest related to the economy, health and welfare, infrastructure, environment and law.

The Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council each have standing committees which consist of MPs from government, opposition and crossbench parties of the same House.

Joint investigatory committees, such as PAEC (Public Accounts and Estimates Committee) involve MPs of government, opposition and crossbench parties from both Houses.

Members of the public are encouraged to participate in the committee inquiry process, by making a submission and/or providing evidence at a public hearing.
