A popular program which gives emerging writers the ability to not only experience, but also document the work of parliament is back!

Parliament Express is a free series of workshops and 1:1 mentoring sessions for people aged 18 to 25.

Participants have the chance to engage with MPs, members of the press gallery and parliamentary staff.

‘Give it a go, put your name out and get engaged with parliament.’

Launched in 2022, the program aims to upskill aspiring journalists who have an interest in politics.

‘One of the benefits of this entire experience is that our work will be published on the website which is very exciting because we can build up our portfolio,’ previous participant Chelsea Daniel said.

‘We went through multiple different topics which were incredibly useful in providing us with industry support, for example pitching, reporting and interviewing.’

Those involved can also indicate their preference for online, in person or hybrid participation.

Parliament Express demonstrated how parliament wants to engage with young people,’ Chelsea said.

The two-hour fortnightly sessions will start on a Tuesday evening in April.
