Before entering Parliament, Clifford worked in film and television as an editor and producer. He was previously a Councillor at Bayside City and served as Mayor and Deputy Mayor.
Clifford was prompted to run for Parliament because felt a sense of powerlessness over planning policies at the local government level.
The priorities Clifford has for his community are for improved investment in community health and stronger environment protection policies. He believes that these issues should be prioritised in decision making at all levels of government.
Clifford's vision for Victoria’s future is as a state which values, protects and promotes our environment as our most important asset. He envisions a Victoria which supports clean, green agriculture and self-sufficient industries which are sustainable and based on renewable energy and a circular economy.
The areas of public policy that he is most passionate about are planning and infrastructure. Clifford wants to see a more restrained population policy and greater investment in renewable energy expansion and waste reduction.
