Constituency questions

Eastern Victoria Region

Eastern Victoria Region

Renee HEATH (Eastern Victoria) (12:57): (606) My question is for the Minister for Environment. The state government has continued to promise concerned residents of Silverleaves that a coastal erosion study will be conducted. These residents have been fearful for the maintenance of their properties amid the erosion, which has led to mature trees falling and foreshore cliffs eroding as far as 17 ‍metres in some areas. It is reported that the government has not even found a contractor to conduct the study. Residents live in the area because they love the natural environment, and they want to see it preserved for generations to come. It is time that this becomes a priority for the government. Our beaches and coastal areas belong to all of us, and we need to look after them. My question for the minister is: when will this study be completed?

Sitting suspended 12:58 pm until 2:03 pm
