Walk for Dementia

Walk for Dementia

Wendy LOVELL (Northern Victoria) (13:07): On Sunday 12 February I was honoured to join Kyabram’s Mick Simpson and many others for his latest Walk for Dementia event at the Victoria Park Lake in Shepparton to raise community awareness of dementia. Despite being diagnosed with dementia in 2019, Mick works to raise awareness of dementia through community walks and, in partnership with the Kyabram Community & Learning Centre, provides great assistance to those living with dementia through the Kyabram and district dementia support group. As well as supporting the group, funds raised by Mick also support research into the condition. Last year Mick walked from Kyabram to the steps of state Parliament, raising over $5600 for the cause. Mick Simpson is a local champion of his community, selflessly walking many kilometres to help others impacted by this terrible condition. I want to publicly congratulate and thank Mick for his bravery and determination to help other sufferers, and I would also like to thank the wonderful staff and volunteers at the Kyabram Community & Learning Centre for their ongoing support of Mick and his campaign.
