Constituency questions

Euroa electorate

Annabelle CLEELAND

Euroa electorate

Annabelle CLEELAND (Euroa) (14:30): (24) My question is for the Minister for Education, and I ask: when will the government complete a new master plan for Broadford Secondary College? The Mitchell shire is growing at a rapid rate, with Broadford and Kilmore’s populations booming. Before the start of 2023 the school had to turn away several families due to the school being so close to capacity. This is despite the education minister in April of last year stating the school is not currently experiencing enrolment pressure. At the same time, neighbouring Kilmore does not even have a public school, which was why the Nationals committed to both a business case for a new public school in Kilmore as well as funding $8 million towards upgrading Broadford Secondary College if elected to government. It would be great to see this government undertake this crucial work. Our children desperately need a master plan for Broadford Secondary to show the significant investment required to meet basic school infrastructure needs. Regional students should not have to settle for second best. This cannot be ignored. Broadford and Kilmore children need these investments now.
