Power saving bonus

Power saving bonus

Jackson TAYLOR (Bayswater) (19:11): (46) It is back – the $250 power saving bonus is back with a vengeance, and it is coming to every single Victorian household that makes an application. I wish to raise a matter for the Minister for Energy and Resources: the action that I seek is for the minister to provide my community with the amount of Knox households eligible for the next round of the bonus and how many applied in the last round.

We promised the Andrews Labor government would bring back this popular cost-of-living measure that is putting money back into the pockets of Victorians, and in March, when applications open for the next round, that is exactly what we will be doing. All you need to do is log on to the Victorian Energy Compare website to find a better power deal, which could also save you up to $580 in total. The big power companies of course rely on us not bothering to find a better deal, but we know they are absolutely out there. So head to compare.energy.vic.gov.au for the easiest $250 you will ever pocket. Even if you do not make the switch, you will still get the $250, no strings attached.

We know tens of thousands of Victorians have found a better deal and 1.7 million have accessed this current round of the power saving bonus. There is one payment available per household, and those who previously received the $250 bonus under the concession program – the one back again – or the previous round, which is still open, can still apply for this current round. Every single Victorian household will again be eligible. You can also call 1800 000 832 for assistance if you do not use the internet. This along with free TAFE, the sick pay guarantee and free kinder are just some of the many ways the state Labor government are helping to put money back in your pocket.
