Constituency questions

Rowville electorate

Rowville electorate

Kim WELLS (Rowville) (14:34): (28) My question is to the Minister for Roads and Road Safety. Minister, with the upcoming Aston by-election, when will the state government fix the major roads – namely Lysterfield, Wellington, Napoleon and Ferntree Gully roads – in the electorate of Rowville? This is an ongoing serious issue affecting all residents in Rowville, who are sick and tired of the potholes, the road surfacing breaking up and becoming dangerous and drivers driving on the shoulders of roads to avoid potholes, which is even more dangerous. Despite the federal Liberal government allocating $50 million to duplicate Napoleon Road and $100 million to resurface Wellington Road in 2019, the Andrews government did nothing through sheer incompetence. Now that the Albanese Labor government have cut their allocation of funds in their first budget, Rowville–Lysterfield residents are back to square one, driving on dangerous roads. It is time at long last for the Andrews government to step in and fix these dangerous roads.
