Anthony CARBINES (Ivanhoe – Minister for Police, Minister for Crime Prevention, Minister for Racing) (19:23): I rise to respond to adjournment debate matters raised by members. The member for Caulfield raised a matter for the Minister for Environment seeking a meeting with the Caulfield Racecourse Reserve Trust to discuss funding to acquit and perform their fundamental duties. I can also just add as Minister for Racing that I met recently with the MRC, the Melbourne Racing Club, and there is a great desire to do a lot of work there with regard to both Glen Eira council and the Caulfield Racecourse Reserve Trust. We have seen in past parliaments a number of legislative changes that the members for Caulfield, Bentleigh and Oakleigh have been heavily involved in, which for many of us does just pass us by, but a lot of heavy work and lifting has been done. I would also be pleased to catch up with the member for Caulfield on some of the discussions I have had to sort of energise that work in relation to kicking some goals for the trust and the local community, but I will pass on those matters.

The member for Ripon raised a matter for the Minister for Roads and Road Safety in relation to joining her to inspect the quality of local roads and plans for further rural road improvements in her electorate.

The member for Shepparton raised a matter for the Minister for Education to fully fund stage 1 and commit to funding for stage 2 of her local school project at Verney Road School.

The member for Narre Warren South raised a matter for the Minister for Employment regarding the sick pay guarantee, seeking information with regard to how the sick pay guarantee is helping workers and families in his Narre Warren South electorate.

The member for Warrandyte is no longer with us; the honourable member for Warrandyte raised a matter for the Minister for Education seeking action in the 2023–24 budget for capital works funding for a range of Warrandyte district schools, which he listed in his contribution.

The member for Bayswater raised a matter for the Minister for Energy and Resources with regard to the power saving bonus and was keen to know about further action and information in regard to the community of Knox and the eligible power saving bonus families and other related matters.

The member for Melbourne raised a matter for the Minister for Roads and Road Safety, a very serious matter, with regard to the death of a cyclist recently, a road fatality, in West Melbourne and the urgent action that is required to invest in both the redesign of that intersection and lights to fix the matters there in West Melbourne. I know that we give the sympathies of the house with regard to Mr Collins and his family in what has been a very tragic and difficult time.

The member for Albert Park raised a matter for the Minister for Transport and Infrastructure with regard to new bike lanes on St Kilda Road. It is the busiest tram corridor and a very significant cycling corridor along St Kilda Road. It will be familiar to many members, and the member has sought further updates on investment and work there.

The member for Benambra, who is in the house, raised a matter for the Minister for Ambulance Services on plans to deliver benchmark ambulance response times across Indigo and Towong shires. He went into some detail on those matters, which will be reflected in his contribution.

The member for Mordialloc did raise a matter for the Minister for Early Childhood and Pre-Prep with regard to meeting with the teachers and support staff – never forget the support staff – to discuss the Andrews Labor government’s free kinder policy.

I will action those matters with ministers on behalf of members.

The DEPUTY SPEAKER: The house now stands adjourned.

House adjourned 7:27 pm.
